It's color gel, color filter, lighting gel, or simply just gel. It is a transparent colored material that is used in theatre, event production, photography, videography and cinematography to color light and for color correction. These modern gels are thin sheets of polycarbonate or polyester. When placed in front of a lighting fixture in the path of the beam, the color is projected.

E-Colour is Rosco's comprehensive system of European color filters (LEE) for film and video production. E-Colour includes different filters and materials for color correction, color effects, diffusion and reflection. E-Color gel sheets are $5.79 per sheet. They're manufactured with the latest dye formulations and bonding technology to assure the highest levels of reliability and performance. E-Colour filters are available in 48 inch by 25 foot rolls, as well as 21 by 24 inch sheets. Basically you can order Lee numbers and get Rosco quality.
