Permacolor Dichroic Filters
Dichroic filters are durable glass color filters that transmit only certain wavelengths of light, reflecting the rest of the spectrum, rather than absorbing it. Since virtually no energy is absorbed by the filter, light transmission is significantly higher than traditional gels and will never burn out or fade. Rosco Permacolor filters are made with the highest quality coatings, designed not to fade or shift color. In addition, Rosco's sophisticated manufacturing process allows for precise color consistency batch to batch to a degree that is unprecedented in other dichroic coatings. Permacolor filters are manufactured in five standard sizes on durable borafloat glass 1.75mm (.069") thick or can be custom cut in any size up to 13.5" in diameter.
Installation
For best performance and durability, Permacolor filters must be installed with the coated side of the glass towards the light source. Viewing the filter on the edge will help you determine which side of the glass is coated. Permacolor filters should be installed at 90º to the light path. Improperly installed filters may exhibit a color shift.
Permacolor filters should not be used with extreme wide angle (>40º)fixtures. In certain instances, color fringing towards the edges of the field of light may occur. This color shift is cosmetic only, and will not otherwise affect the performance of the filter. Please test with your fixture to insure acceptable results.
Standard Colors
Durable enough to withstand the extreme temperatures found in even the hottest luminaires, the Permacolor palette of standard colors offers designers a long life filter alternative to many of the most popular Rosco gel colors. Choose from among twenty four saturated colors that won't fade or burn over time.
Architectural Series Colors
This series of available colors has been designed with the assistance of architectural lighting designers around the world and is perfect for both interior and exterior architectural lighting projects. Subtle, pale color tints are perfect for accent lighting and offer a unique alternative to the typical bright saturated colors available from other dichroic suppliers.
Cinedichro™ Glass Color Correction
Cinedichro CTO and CTB dichroic filters have been engineered to provide true, accurate color correction, precisely matching industry standards for color balancing daylight and tungsten light sources. Relying on the filters ability to withstand extremely high temperatures, Cinedichro filters can be used on most motion pictures lighting fixtures - even 6K pars. Like all Rosco Permacolor filter, Cinedichro are made to a maximum diameter 13.5". Please contact Rosco for more information on using Cinedichro filters with specific fixtures.
TECHNICAL COATINGS
IR/UV Filter (Hot Mirror) (#38000)
IR/UV filter is a clear glass filter designed to pass visible light while reflecting the infrared and near UV energy. Perfect for museum and architectural applications. Available in standard and custom sizes.
UV Blocking Filter (#34000)
UV Blocking filter reflects both near and far ultraviolet energy as far out as 250nm. Minimal color shifting allows this protective filter to be used in a wide range of lighting and scientific applications. Available in standard and custom sizes.
