Rosco Polarizing Filter is a linear polarizing filler developed for use on lights.
It is most commonly used in photography to reduce glare from smooth reflective surfaces such as glass, water, glossy paper and certain metallic objects.
Most objects produce some glare. Even though it may be minor, this glare can cause a "washing out" or weakening of the object’s color. "Cross polarization" can reduce this glare to provide richer color saturation.
In addition to glare reduction, Rosco Polarizing Filter may be utilized for a variety of other special effects or technical applications. These include Birefringence (for crystal photography) and motion illusion.
Rosco Polarizing Filter is produced on a 6 mil acetate base. It is an excellent neutral grey with minimal color temperature shift. Transmission is 38% (11/2 stops). It is available from Rosco dealers worldwide by the roll (17" x 10’ / 43 cm x 300 cm) or by the sheet (17" x 20" / 43 cm x 51 cm).
