It’s autumn, and that means getting ready for winter productions around the StageSpot offices. We’ve already discussed flaked snow, and all of its wondrous set dressing properties. What do you need when the director muses about adding falling snow or snow that floats in the air? You need snow fluid, a snow machine, and perhaps even a fan.
There are tons of different types of snow fluid available. Luckily, StageSpot carries many. You’ll want to look for a fluid that produces a flake that will travel the distance your snow machine will send it and is appropriate for the space you’re going to use it in. A small black box theatre does not need a fluid designed for arenas nor does a stadium need a fluid designed to float for 50 feet.
Specialty snow fluids are available if your production needs snow that can change color when subjected to UV blacklight. We carry some that can be light pink or blue. These can enhance those winter dance recitals. When used properly, your audience will be mesmerized by the way snow can highlight a winter dance.
Now that we’ve explored some snow fluid options, lets talk about machines. These things are amazing. They can take a snow fluid and turn it into falling snow with the push of a button. We carry machines by Antari, Le Maitre, and CITC. If you find a machine that you’re interested in, but don’t see it on our website, drop us a line.

When looking for a machine, it’s important to figure out what features are most important to you. If you need wireless, that should be looked at first. If you are concerned about size, maybe CITC’s The Santa is right for you. If noise is your biggest concern, check out the Antari S-200 Artificial Snow Machine, it’s reported to be one of the quietest available. If you need your snow to fall faster or farther, consider adding a fan to your snow machine setup. CITC has a Little Blizzard package that might be right for you.
No matter what snow machine you choose or artificial snow fluid that suits your purpose, StageSpot is here to help with all your snow production needs.
