LET IT SNOW, FROM A BAG!

LET IT SNOW, FROM A BAG!

Autumn is officially here and it’s already time to start planning holiday pageants, productions, and photo shoots. Nothing quite says the holidays like snow! Real snow can be hard to come by, store, and near impossible to use under stage lighting without creating a soggy mess. Here at StageSpot, we have several solutions for you in the artificial snow department.

There are a few kinds of artificial snow, primarily divided into flakes and fluid. These both have their advantages for certain applications. Over the next few weeks check back for more snow-related information such as how to make and use your own (snow cradles anyone?) as well as the ever important clean up. Today we’re starting simple with information on the flake type of artificial snow.

Artificial flake snow works best for photo/video and set dressing applications. It photographs better than the real thing. While there are plastic flakes of snow available, StageSpot carries CITC’s SNOBIZ artificial snow. It has a soft puffed texture, impressive white color, and melts in water. Unlike other water-soluble snow, SNOWBIZ is environmentally friendly and safe should it drain into local rivers and lakes.

Given that this is a “melt-able” snow, it’s not great for outdoor use on wet days. Other than that, it’s fantastic for holiday or winter photo shoots in studios. It can be used as window display snow for winter wonderland effects and is excellent set dressing. It is also available in a larger flake size for falling snow effects. CITC SNOBIZ snow comes in large vacuum packed bags to reduce freight cost and storage size. No need to clutter up the scene shop with big boxes of snow. Once out of the box, this snow can be fluffed up beautifully. It’s recommended that this snow is taken out of it’s packaging about an hour before use for maximum fluff time.

It’s available in several flake sizes:

Fine for set dressing especially great on windowsills, tree branches, and railings

Close- Up: A mix of regular and fine flakes great for ground cover, window displays, and falling snow. It’s the most economical choice.

Regular flakes: These are excellent for the cascading winter wonderland your dance show needs. It’s available in two container sizes, 10 cubic Ft. covers 12’ x 10’ x 1” and 5 cubic Ft. covers 6’ x 10’ x 1.”

Still not sure? StageSpot customers have actually reviewed this product and said, “Exceeded my expectations.” How did SNOBIZ do that? It photographed beautifully, made logistics easy as it cleaned up easily and didn’t collect static like other artificial snow.

Do you need your snow to fall and blow, not just lay beautifully on the ground?  Check back for our next post on fall foam snow options. If you have any questions about creating your winter wonderland, please contact StageSpot! We’re here to help.
