Nowadays, Marley flooring is a catchall name for dance flooring. Marley Floors Ltd manufactured one of the most popular vinyl dance floors until around 1978. Many dance professionals still refer to their dance floor as “Marley floor” much like many people refer to tissues as “Kleenex.” Many folks still refer to the tape used to seal the seams of dance floor as “marley tape” as well.

So how does Marley compare? Considering it’s no longer manufactured and any vinyl dance floor manufactured before 1980 would be over 30 years old by now, the newer floors available are much more recommended. If you can find some old Marley flooring, it will likely be stiffer than recommended and possibly cracked due to age.
