Here is some oddball theatre trivia to lighten the mood around mid-terms. While we’ve done a little checking, we did use the internet to find most of these.
The architect of the Sydney Opera House never visited the finished venue owing to a disagreement with the managers.

Franklin D. Roosevelt was the president responsible for the first movie theatre built at the White House. Â That’s one way to bring the movies to you.
Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw was co-founded the London School of Economics. See brains and arts do go together.
Cole Porter’s “Kiss Me Kate” won the first Best Musical Tony Award in 1949.
Disney’s “The Lion King” closely follows the plot of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” Thank you Disney for educating our kids about the classics.
For our movie friends, a little Oscar trivia: The Oscar crew typically includes as many as a dozen writers, five associate directors, as many as 20 stage managers, more than 20 camera operators, more than two dozen editors, all part of a team that numbers well into the hundreds. And they all wear formal attire on Oscar night. Â Hopefully all in crew black.
We are primarily backstage here at StageSpot and in that vein; here are some “Ghost Light” facts:

A “ghost light” is usually a single naked lamp on a simple wire frame that is placed on a cleared stage and turned on before the last of the crew leaves for the night.
The “ghost light” is left on to appease the ghosts by giving them enough light to perform in.
In all practicality the “ghost light” prevents the living from slipping and falling while bumbling around in the dark theatre, this way no one becomes a new ghost. Glow tape affixed the edges of the stage also help prevent the creation of new ghosts.
Alright, enough surfing, time to get back to mid-term studying. And please don’t remember this trivia and forget all the information you need for those tests. If you need any last minute Field Templates for your drafting exam or spike tape to mark your supplies, StageSpot is here to help.
