Instructions for Applying Gel Filters to Windows:

Equipment needed:

-Spray bottle filled with 1-quart water and ¼ tsp. liquid detergent

            -Window squeegee (blade type preferred)

            -Straightedge

            -Razor

            -Paper towels

1)     Clean window surface thoroughly.

2)     Place paper towels below window frame to catch excess water.

3)     Measure the frame of the window to be covered, allowing ¼” surplus for each edge. Cut the window filter to these measurements.

4)     Generously spray the window with the water and detergent solution.

5)     Place the filter on the wet window, aligning it to the upper edge and fitting it to the upper-right corner. Position the filter and press it in place until it is smooth and covering the window.

6)     Using a straightedge and razor, trim the excess filter from the other edges as needed.

7)     Spray the outer filter surface with the water and detergent solution.

8)     Hold the filter in place to avoid slippage. Position the squeegee at the top center of the window, at a 60° angle to the filter. Squeegee all of the water out towards the edges and downwards, using firm, short 12” strokes. At the bottom, drag the remaining water out to the sides.

9)     Repeat Steps 6 & 7 if necessary, until all water is removed from between the window and the filter, as well from the outer filter surface.

10)  Using a clean paper towel, wipe the excess water from the edges of the filter.

11)  Additional filters can be added in layers by repeating steps 4 through 9.

12)  For added security, place small tabs of clear tape at upper corners of the filter.

13)  To remove the filter from the window, simply peel it away.
